OMW! What a camp! We’re back and buzzing with excitement from the most amazing experience at the Divine Footprints Youth Camp, which took place from 19-21 June 2024, at the beautiful Mizpah Youth Camp site outside Grabouw in the Western Cape. From the get-go, the camp was all about making connections and quickly turning strangers into besties. Ice-breaker activities and team-building exercises had everyone laughing and working together. By the end of the first day, it felt like we were one big, happy family.
Our campers got hands-on with some seriously cool outdoor skills taught by a very capable crew. They learned how to pitch tents and set up a campsite like pros. Using hiking equipment, like multi-fuel stoves, became second nature. These are skills they’ll carry with them for life, making every future adventure even more epic.
The camp was jam-packed with thrilling activities. The obstacle course had everyone pushing their limits and cheering each other on. Zip-sliding in the dark has been an adrenaline rush like no other. And the day hike? Absolutely breathtaking! The mountains around Grabouw provided the perfect backdrop for exploration and some epic photo ops.
Evenings were all about relaxation and fun around the bonfire. We swapped stories, sang our hearts out, and enjoyed the warm glow of the fire. And the potjie-challenge was the ultimate! The kids showing off their cooking skills were a blast, too. The judges were impressed by the cooking skills of the kids as they learned to whip up tasty meals over the open flame, adding a delicious touch to our evenings.
One of the most memorable parts of the camp was our worship sessions. These moments of reflection and connection brought everyone closer together and provided a sense of peace and purpose. The spiritual energy was incredible, leaving a lasting impact on everyone.
The Divine Footprints Youth Camp 2024 was more than just a few days away—it was a life-changing experience. We left with new skills, stronger friendships, and memories that will last a lifetime.
